Light Brown Herringbone Balmacaan Coat

This light brown balmacaan is made in Italy from a Shetland wool herringbone woven in England. Shetland has a dry, slightly coarse handle, and the cloth is spun from beige, oatmeal, dark brown and taupe yarns, which gives the brown a depth that sits with both warm and cool colours. At 525 grams it is a proper winter weight.

The balmacaan is a long, full coat with raglan sleeves, cut to go over a jacket or heavy knitwear. The raglan construction runs the sleeve seam from the collar to the underarm, which leaves the shoulder unbroken and gives more room through the arm. We finished the sleeves with turnback cuffs, a more distinctive detail than the buttoned tabs usually found on a balmacaan.

The collar sits open like a lapel and closes with a working throat latch when the weather turns. Fully lined, with a single vent that buttons shut, and horn buttons throughout.
