Burgundy Garza Grossa Grenadine Tie

Sale price€130

We consider grenadine to be one of the most versatile materials for ties. This burgundy grenadine tie pairs well with a multitude of suit and shirt combinations, and its distinctive weave adds a bit of texture to any ensemble.

Grenadine is a weave characterised by its open structure and gauze-like texture. We offer two variations: Garza Grossa and Garza Fina. "Garza Grossa" literally translates to "large gauze," while "Garza Fina" means "fine gauze." Presented here is the burgundy Garza Grossa grenadine tie.

Made by hand in Italy, this tie features hand-rolled blades and a 3-fold construction with light interlining to ensure a modest knot.

Person weaving grenadine silk on old wooden shuttle looms at silk weaver Fermo Fossati

Grenadine Silk

Fermo Fossati, established in 1871 in Como, Italy, is recognized as Italy's oldest silk mill and is one of only two companies in the world that still produce grenadine silk.

Grenadine is woven on the same wooden shuttle looms that were used back in the 1900s. The process involves twisting two warp yarns around the weft yarns, creating a flexible yet durable fabric. This technique results in ties that offer a unique texture and depth, making them suitable for a variety of occasions.

Each grenadine tie showcases the exceptional craftsmanship and enduring tradition of Fermo Fossati.

Handmade in Italy

Our ties are the product of generations of expertise, meticulously handcrafted in Southern Italy.

The process, involving more than 20 distinct steps, results in ties that are not only aesthetically pleasing but also represent the pinnacle of sartorial excellence. Each step, from cutting to sewing the slip stitch, is performed by hand with unparalleled attention to detail.

Our ties are untipped and feature hand-rolled blades, highlighting the handcrafted nature of each piece.
