Dark Blue Lambswool Cardigan

This dark blue cardigan is made in Scotland from two-ply Geelong lambswool, a fine Australian merino wool spun from two yarns twisted together before knitting. It holds its surface. Several winters in, it still looks like the sweater you bought.

The deep V-neck leaves room for a shirt and tie to show. You can leave the lower buttons undone, which keeps the shape through the waist and lets the hem fall open. We make ours slightly shorter in the body, which sits well with high-rise trousers and lengthens the leg.

The saddle shoulder and turnback cuffs are the traditional pairing on Scottish country knitwear. The button placket is trimmed with grosgrain ribbon on the inside, which takes the strain of the buttons and stops the front stretching out of shape over time. Hems and cuffs are ribbed, and the buttons are horn.
