Tobacco Merino Wool Sport Coat

Tobacco is a warm, golden brown, and in this sport coat it is mixed from several shades of yarn, with flecks of rust, ochre and grey that show up close. The surface is napped and full of texture: the look of a tweed with the softness of merino.

The cloth is a merino wool twill, woven in Yorkshire. Merino is a fine fibre, so the cloth feels soft to the touch, and the raised surface holds warmth. The twill is pronounced enough that its diagonal line shows through the nap. At 375 grams it is a cloth for autumn and winter.

Our tailoring is made in Italy with a full canvas construction and hand-sewing at the collar, armholes and buttonholes. The jacket is half lined with a soft shoulder, and patch pockets keep it relaxed.

Tobacco is at its best against grey and cream. Wear it with light grey or charcoal flannel trousers, with cream or ecru trousers, or with jeans. A light blue oxford cloth button-down shirt and a navy tie dress it up, and a navy roll neck does the opposite.
