The Style Guide by Permanent Style

Simon Crompton has spent more than a decade writing about tailoring, visiting the workshops and passing on what the tailors themselves told him. In recent years he has widened the range from bespoke and classic menswear into workwear and less formal dress. We stock Permanent Style because there is very little else written about clothes with the same depth.

The Style Guide is built around photographs by Jamie Ferguson of people whose clothes are worth looking at, with Crompton analysing each outfit: why the texture works, why the colours sit together, why the cut does what it does.

It gathers a decade of arguments from PermanentStyle.com, from the Italian Background to the sliding scale of formality, trousers for grey jackets, and dressing for a modern office.
