Mocha Lambswool Roll Neck

This mocha roll neck is made in Scotland from two-ply Geelong lambswool, a fine Australian merino wool spun from two yarns twisted together before knitting. It holds its surface. Several winters in, it still looks like the sweater you bought.

The roll neck covers the neck, which keeps the warmth in and frames the face. It reads more formal than a crew neck and works on its own, under a sport coat, or under a coat in winter. We make ours slightly shorter in the body, which sits well with high-rise trousers and lengthens the leg.

The saddle shoulder and turnback cuffs are the traditional pairing on Scottish country knitwear. The saddle shoulder carries the top of the sleeve across to the neckband, which softens the shoulder line and leaves room to move. The turnback cuff started as a practical thing, a deeper cuff that could be repaired on its own, and it lets you wear the sleeve at the length you want.
