Dark Blue Small Floral Ancient Madder Tie

Ancient Madder is printed on gum twill, silk boiled to strip its natural gum, dyed, then bathed in a gum solution. That finishing gives the cloth its dry, chalky hand, and it softens with wear. Ours is screen printed by hand in Macclesfield, usually six to eight screens building the design layer by layer.

The ground is dyed indigo first and the pattern printed over it by dye and discharge, which leaves a soft haze around each motif and a blue cast to the whole design. Because the tie is untipped you can see the indigo on the reverse. This dark blue tie carries a small floral pattern in light blue, green and red.

Made by hand in Italy, this tie features hand-rolled blades and a 3-fold construction with light interlining to ensure a modest knot.
