This brown gun club tie is made from worsted flannel by Fox Brothers, who are credited with inventing flannel and have woven in Wellington, Somerset since 1772. Spun from long combed fibres, worsted flannel has a smoother finish than woollen flannel while keeping a soft, brushed texture, and its lighter weight suits a tie, allowing a modest knot without excess bulk.
Gun club check is built on a houndstooth structure worked in three colours rather than the usual two, here in dark brown, black, and rust. The pattern originated as a Scottish district check before an American shooting club adopted it as their livery in the 1870s, giving it its name. It pairs naturally with tweed, covert cloth, or a plain navy or charcoal suit.
Made by hand in Italy, this tie features hand-rolled blades and a 3-fold construction with light interlining to ensure a modest knot.
